Our Founder

Founder2Founded by Dr. Deanna Duncan, Hearth Hospice is the only physician-founded hospice in the Chattanooga and North Georgia area. Dr. Duncan, a national expert in hospice and palliative care, founded Hearth based on the belief that “a small hospice provider can provide the most personalized, expert care. The best organizational structure is one that puts the fewest obstacles between the patient and their providers.” Dr. Duncan was given a “hospice diagnosis” in 2013 when she was told she had stage 4 cancer and she only had months to live. After beating cancer into remission she decided in 2015 to retire from the Hospice business and spend more time enjoying her life outside of work. Dr. Duncan continues to be an inspiration to the pursuit of excellence at Hearth Hospice .
